Literature Text

Oh, sweet little lamb,
What do you seek as you wander the land?
Do you not fear the dark of night,
The dreary woods or the stagnant light?

Why do you brave the woods this night,
When hungry wolves come out to dine?
Why do you not tremble before hunting mouths,
That wish to eat and swallow you down?

Their teeth shine silver, beneath moons light,
Their numbers grow, they multiply.
You are surrounded, please run and hide,
Oh, sweet little lamb, you are sure to die!

Hungry wolves close in on you,
They slowly move through brush and bush.
They stand before you with eyes of red,
And growling teeth all dripping wet.

Oh, sweet lamb, this cannot be,
What is this, do my eyes deceive?
They bow to you with kneeling paws,
For you were their master all along.
One little lamb, two little lambs, three little lambs, four little lambs.
